The Picture of Dorian Gray is a novel by the
great English author Oscar Wilde, famous for his beautiful stories for children
like The Happy Prince and Other Stories, the short novel The Canterville Ghost,
and his play The Importance of Being Earnest.
The Picture of Dorian Gray is a novel that
shows how a man after agreeing with the devil shows a beautiful and jovial face
before others, while all his sins and evils are reflected in his portrait. A portrait
hidden behind a thick curtain; a portrait never seen.
At first the real man and the portrait are
similar, but then in the wake of the diabolical covenant, all excesses,
dissipation, evil and corruptions are reflected in the portrait and not in the
person shown to others.
The totalitarian left has used a kind of Picture
of Dorian Gray, with impunity, for decades of years. I remember that when I was
a child, in my town in the center of Venezuela, I listened the speeches of Fidel
Castro in the Volkswagen of my brother that Radio Habana Cuba broadcast. Fidel
was a very good speaker, he talked about revolution, equality, sovereignty,
independence, anti-imperialism, prosperity, peace, love ... He was showing the
noble, handsome and jovial face to others. Meanwhile, and was hiding, due to
the lack of information that existed in the pre-internet era, that the people were
repressed, imprisoned, persecuted, robbed, services and infrastructure were
destroyed, and most of the Cuban people were filled with misery. But all that
happened in the Portrait of Dorian Gray, which was hidden.
In Venezuela, perhaps because of Cuban advice,
they tried to apply the same tactic, Hell inside and paradise outside. They
thought that the curtain that avoided seeing the ugly Picture of Dorian Gray
still existed, not showing the world the sores of its dissipation, its
repression, its crimes and its evils.
They not understood that times had changed,
they did the same as the Polish generals who before the Second World War still
formed cavalry divisions. Already the panzers, the battle tanks had made them
obsolete. The criminals of the dictatorship did not understand that the curtain
that hid Dorian Gray's Portrait no longer existed, that all his evil, his
repression, his murders, his cynicism of dancing the death of fellow citizens,
... The world saw everything, online, by youtube, by twitter, by social
networks.
The social networks showed us the Picture of
Dorian Gray of the Totalitarian Left in all its evil, with all its marks, its
sores and its tumors. That is why even the world left is ashamed to feel
related to the Chavist dictatorship.
Most of the world knows that Maduro is a
Dictator, in December 2015 the opposition won an absolute majority of the AN
(National Assembly) and the dictatorship ignored 3 deputies, because they felt
like it, to remove the absolute majority. Before, previously between roosters
and midnight they illegally named a TSJ (Supreme Court of Justice) that should
have been appointed by the new AN, so the current TSJ is completely illegal.
In 2017 they set up an ANC (National
Constituent Assembly) on a savage repression where more than 140 people were
killed, victims of the repressive forces of the dictatorship. An ANC elected in
an electoral parody, where only them voted.
In 2018, the illegal ANC, illegally calls
elections, where the dictatorship chooses a little set of the false opposition
candidates (partners of dictatorship), where it banned all parties of the real
opposition, and disabled all their candidates. All these actions they took to keep
the "revolution" in power cost thousands of lives of persons killed
by repression, tens of thousands of innocent people imprisoned, millions of
citizens forced to emigrate, who leave their homeland without want it. Only
last January 2019 the dictatorship killed 60 Venezuelans with their violence.
That is the Portrait of Dorian Gray that today is no longer hidden.
You have to be a cynical, others will say a
hard and soulless revolutionary to support a dictatorship as corrupt and
criminal as the Chavist. These “progressives” of the world first put ideology,
the promised paradise of love and prosperity, before the Reality of a hell for
all, except for the elite and the party apparatus. The Chavist dictatorship has
remained in power based on terror, hunger, blackmail and carrot, and has pushed
millions into emigration, leaving them homeless, or memories.
The data is there today, we are not in 1934
when the purges of Stalin, nor in the 50s when the Soviet invasions to Central
Europe, the one who does not know the Venezuelan reality is because he does not
like to investigate, or because he is ideologically blind or are accomplice of
this dictatorship The fog that hid the Portrait of Dorian Gray has been
dissipated by the social networks. They can no longer say, “I did not know, the
information was hidden”. No, no more.
How sad, that there are people who sell
themselves as progressive, as revolutionary and support the most reactionary:
the death of the achievements of the French revolution, the dissolution of
citizen's freedom and the death of his economic independence.
